There are so many charming homes in the DC area, I could start an entirely separate blog featuring them. Every time I drive by this row house in Georgetown, I slow down to get a good look, it's one of my favorites. So much charm.

My house in 20 years - or another lifetime!
I often look at a space and think "never in a million years" - between, babies, dogs, and life in general it's hard to just decorate a space based on what looks good. It's all about how a household functions and for me personally that means spit up, dirty paws and a constant flow of people in and out. I wouldn't have it any other way, but I think these spaces below {which I drool over} are in my far future or another life time.
I write all this while juggling Jake on my lap, with the dogs running wild all around - and let's be honest as sophisticated and elegant as these spaces seem, my true love will always be colorful, casual interiors.

To stencil or not to stencil...
I'm really dragging my feet on what to do with my dining room walls. Originally I wanted to do a wall covering, but even though I'm loving several different patterns, I can't find the perfect color green I have in mind. Now I'm thinking about using a wall decal to stencil.
The color I'm going for - kelly green, grass green, preppy green - whatever you call it, here it is:

Monday Inspiration
Tomorrow my living room will be painted a similar color to this space...definitely a game changer, so I'm drawing a little inspiration here to get ready for a dark blue room. I'll be accenting with greens and other blues, but do like the mustard yellow contrast in this room.

A completely fabulous space
To me, what makes a space complete {and fabulous} is a combination of things: style, interest, texture, pattern, color and natural light. This space has all of those qualities and such attention to detail. Look at the trim on the chair skirts, the nail heads on the sofa, the hint of brass on the floor lamp...even the dogs collar matches the room, love it.

Is it too early to make a Christmas list? I found a company with the most exquisite rugs and not only are they inspiring with unusual color sets and patterns, but they are right up my alley...pretty please Santa!

Oh and they make pillows too. Which I also love.
