Living Room Facelift

Last week I mentioned that I was helping my parents update their living room and here is a sneak peak of the progress. As we know, nothing happens over night, so there is still much to be done, but we've made some head way...

My parents have been in there house for almost 25 years and they've done a wonderful job updating the exterior/interiors, but one room was put on the back burner and it became my mission to give it a face lift. My goal was to neutralize the colors, add more texture and make it a more transitional space with a traditional feel. We repainted, reupholstered, rearranged...still work to be done!

This is the living room before....

Nice in the 80's and 90's...but for 2011? Sorry mom :)

Every house needs a good old fashioned wing chair...just not in a faded damask red.

Floral sofa no longer...now it's covered with a beautiful, textured linen...nail heads were added and a long lumbar pillow. We also found a console table for behind the sofa and don't you love those lamps?

 Love the nail head details.

Red no more...now a gorgeous herringbone.

Love love.

New little side table for the wing chair.

Ordered this rug, which will add some color and interest.

My mom wants to use some of her favorite pictures...but we'll need to re frame.

I changed the layout of the room as well, but forgot to take a photo of the new arrangement. We are ordering window hardware, simple linen striped fabric for the panels and will soon focus on the ottoman/coffee table and second chair....here are some ideas...

The other chair we add will be something like this Barry Dixon production - a drop skirt and flirty shape.

My mom fell in love with this Fabricut window hardware...handsome and classic.

Taylor Scott Leather Tufted Ottoman
I think a leather tufted ottoman would be great for the "coffee table"...
